ABOUT US
Bethany Student Ministry is just for Students, and it is run by a group of 25 adults that love hanging out and getting to know students. BSM is a student ministry committed to reconnecting students with God, the creator of the universe. Students have many different reasons for why they show up. It might simply be because parents drop them off. It might also be because they grew up here or they got brought by there friends. Whatever the reason they come we are excited when they are here.
BSM is a relational ministry. Everything we do has that as a goal. Each year we do many trips and events where relationships with God and each other can foster and grow. In the fall we head out to Camp Bob Cooper to connect with each other and provide a framework of relationships for the beginning of the school year. In the winter we head up to West Virginia for a weekend in the snow and a chance to connect with God in the middle of the school year. In the summer we spend a week at a camp and provide a week to do in-state missions with Salkehatchie. This summer we will be providing a chance to have do mission work out of the US.
Volunteer leaders get involved with BSM because they feel called to reach out to students. Volunteers give much of their time and money to the youth ministry because they believe in what we are doing and what they are teaching. Volunteers lead Sunday School, provide small group leadership during our Sunday night MYF, and act as leader for our mid-week Family Groups. Weekly meetings of support, accountability, study and prayer provide faith building & discipleship.
It's also important to remember that BSM and all of our programs are only one part of Bethany United Methodist Church. This church is serious about reaching the students in Summerville. We are committed to following the vision of Bethany UMC and to getting students involved with the whole church.

What is BSM's Strategy?
We cannot do the ministry we do without the help of parents and volunteers. We are always looking for people to learn our heart, see our vision, and minister to our students. We utilize these adults to love students where they are, show them the love of Christ, and help them through their discipleship journey. During their journey, we offer students practical steps to becoming Christian leaders through small groups, mission trips, and servant outreaches. But none of this is accomplished without the prayer support of our staff and church body.
