How can I get my youth involved?
We would love to have you youth involved in Bethany Student Ministries. We love to meet new students, whether they are new to BUMC all together, or just new to the student ministries. If you contact our office and let us know, we will give you info about our ministry and what is happening weekly and yearly. We would also love the chance to talk and hang out with your youth, so they can get a glimpse of what we’re all about. We’ll make sure that personal invite happens quickly, so they can meet our students and began to build relationships with peers that are involved.
How can I get involved?
We are always looking for new faces to get involved. We have many areas that you can plug in to. If you are looking for an area to serve, we have to something to fit your comfort level. Whether it is behind the scenes working with set-up, food, or making phone calls, or more “hands-on” volunteering as a chaperone for our trips, or a weekly counselor. We have an area to fit your personality. Best of all, you get the fulfillment of knowing that you’re helping a vital ministry within our church, and you get fellowship with other adults and parents who share the same passion for students as you. The only thing we ask is that you love Jesus and love students.
When/where do you meet each week?
We have a couple of different meetings each week for our students. UM Youth Fellowship is our large group meeting. It takes place every Sunday at 6:30 in the Large Fellowship Hall at Bethany UMC. During the week, we have 4 different small groups to choose from. These groups are located in homes throughout the Summerville/North Charleston area and they meet on different days and times throughout the week. If you would like more info on the small groups or for directions, just call Friar at 873.1230 ext 374.
What forms are necessary to participate in your events?
We do have registration forms and medical releases that are necessary for each trip.
You can click here for our Medical Release Form. This must be filled out by the parent or legal guardian and must be notarized. (Must be turned in before your youth can go on a trip with us).
You can click here for our Student Covenant. This must be signed by both the student and parent or legal guardian. (Must be turned in before your youth can go on a trip with us)
A link to the registration forms can be found in the posting on the calendar and events page.
Are meetings and events well supervised?
We have an amazing group of volunteers that work as youth counselors for our weekly meetings. Many of them have been in youth ministry for over 10 years and bring a lot of experience and expertise with them.
Do you have to be a member to attend events?
No, we love meeting new students. If a student wishes to join BUMC we can help them out with that decision, but being a member is not necessary to take part in anything Bethany Students Ministries does.
